Tele-Dialysis

The Norwegians have developed a tele-dialysis service where haemodialysis is performed at a local hospital and the nephrologist monitors dialysis remotely through a videolink. The Scottish partners have piloted this service and established a videolink between the renal unit of a satellite hospital in Wick and the renal unit of the main hospital in Inverness. Please see the final report from Scotland which includes both the teledialysis and speech therapy pilots: [Final report Scotland]

Please see a presentation of the service "Telehealth Pilot Services in Caithness & Sutherland" by Mary Wakeling and David Heaney (Caithness General Hospital, WIck, on 8th of February 2011).
